it is starting out to be an interesting day... i am just about to meet crissy and mike greely at champps to sign paperwork to start a new job at AEP... which will in turn mean sending off my resignation letter to fastswitch which will in turn mean that CAS will be notified of the change. I am pretty darn excited by all of this... first, i never thought i would be given the opportunity to go and work at AEP, let along get to leave CAS... holy crap is it boring here. I am not so sure how all of these people last from day to day. i am really excited to be given the opportunity to use my architect skills instead of my developer skills for a while. i need to send george an email and let him know what is going on. i might put more up here after i have lunch with crissy and mike...
a fun weekend was had by all... or at least i think by all... emma and I left early on sat morning... about 10AM i think. emma was driving me up the wall trying to get out of the house. she was so excited to get to go and have a sleep over at grandma's house. we ended up making it down to mineral wells about noon. i ended up taking route 33 all the way to ravenswood and then coming north on 77. it seemed like a nice drive... although sometimes something new and different make the trip easier to digest. it appears it is about 10 minutes longer that way, but we stopped at mcdonald's and i am not sure how much time we lost trying to get a quick breakfast. emma, grandma and myself went to the grand central mall to hear and of course see, christine sing with the choir from mineral wells school. she did a nice job... of course she was on of about 50 kids... not sure if we could actually hear her or it was just the fact that we were there. the girls just about wore grandma out playing all of there normal things, easybake oven, office, pharmacy, whatever they were into at the time. of course grandma was into whatever they were into to. i think she had as good a time as the girls. they ended up going to bed at approx. 1130 with the tv on 'hairspray'... which was very good... or at least what i saw of it... i got to catch a little nap thanks to grandma. grandma, grandpa, emma and myself went to marietta college with christine in order to watch christine participate in her cheerleading competition. there were 45 teams invovled in the competition... not all in christine's division, but a lot of teams. christine performed at 1140ish... we ended up leaving shortly after in order to make it back home before it got to late. christine stayed to watch the rest of the competition and then found out her team won first place for her division. emma and i drove back in the rain. i talked to christine later in the day and she told me she had one first place. she seemed very excited for us to be there and pleased that we made the trip down so we could see her compete. a trip well worth the time spent.
well... it seems the interview went pretty well... I met with a Keith Null, also a WVU alumni, and it seemed to go pretty well. The interview only lasted about 25 minutes and he didn't really ask me any questions... asked me to describe what I was interested in doing... asked me to describe what I worked on last and then we talked about the football game that would happen this weekend. hopefully that is a good thing that it didn't last too long and he able to make his decision in my favor. he indicated that he would pull the trigger within the next couple days... meaning monday or tuesday... i think. i can tell you that this place sucks and I am ready to move to something a little... well... a lot more exciting.
ok... the nerves have started... i have an interview with AEP today @ 11AM. Hopefully I will at least hear something back pretty quickly... it would make the weekend at least a little more tolerable. Emma and I are going down to Mineral Wells for the weekend to see Christine's cheerleading competition and maybe her school choir sing at the grand central mall. I am sure it will be chaotic as usual. I will give an update when i return from the interview with notes and my take on the process.
rushed home because stephen had to take his kids to the dentist and conor was at the house by himself. need to get home quick in order to make sure he wasn't having a meltdown. he tends to do that from time to time. picked emma up from goddard... her day seemed to be pretty good. made pizza for dinner and thought about my interview at AEP. the interview is tomorrow. kind of excited... the position seems like something that would be interesting... just not sure what to do about the salary... i have sold me soul for this stupid house... i really like the house, but i am starting to think we need to walk away from the house and get something smaller and more affordable. although I am sure it would upset the family... they wouldn't have any place to have all of their events that they don't want to clean up after. angela seems to be really excited about leaving her job and more specifically... Angela, her boss... although i think she is a little worried about leaving Kathy. just watched the movie, the lake house, for the umpteenth time... it is such a 'girl movie', but i enjoy it... the artsy fartsy side of me, i guess. i have recently started the whole blogging thing again... the lady sitting across from me, laura blogs for her kids all of the time... just sparked my interest again... hopefully this time i can keep up the habit. i need to setup a new blog just for christine... basically everything that gets sent to her mother... probably not a bad idea.
i am still waiting on things to start moving... i have left a couple messages and tried to proceed along my path without the help of others, but unfortunately... the learning curve... without guidance is near impossible to master. I am now interested in the position at AEP and hopeful that something will come along and I am hopeful that I will see/meet someone that I used to work with from Enron... if I could meet or find someone i used to work with will give me a better chance in getting in the door. we shall see.
well... today has been one poopy day already. I am working at CAS and it has to be the slowest job ever. I have been here, finishing my sixth week of working and i have basically worked on nothing... i complained, well... not really, i sent out an email indicating that i didn't have anything to work on and made a few suggestions, but of course nobody jumped on those. instead they made a couple suggestions concerning something stupid that i could work on... a dump report... i guess i am being punished for not doing the right thing... not sure what that means, but it sure is boring not having anything to work on. this report is supposed to be stopping the business from functioning... actually i don't think the business even functions, not sure what they actually do here. that is the funny part of the whole thing... i have been here for six weeks and nobody has actually even told me what it is they are trying to do. I had a meeting today with a couple people concerning a position at AEP, sounds interesting and it seems like something i would enjoy participating in... the PM seemed interested in my background at Enron... the gas trading experience. I am sure nothing will come of it because i want something to work out... i am destined to be at CAS until i eventually shoot myself in the head.
